Mandatory Training and Certification Requirements

Effective 4/01/05 in order to sell or market Partnership Insurance NYS licensed agents must complete mandatory NYS Partnership training and be certified as a Partnership agent. Agents are required to earn 8 continuing education (CE) Partnership credits before selling or marketing a Partnership product. These CE credits can be used to meet the mandatory Department of Insurance requirements for Agent re-certification.
NYS licensees eligible for Continuing Education Credits are:
- BR (Brokers)
- LA (Life/Accident and Health Agents)
- C1 (Life Consultants)
In order to meet the Partnership training requirements, agents must:
- Complete the E-learning course here, and
- Pass a monitored exam based on the content of the E-learning. The exam will be given on the day you attend the classroom training. (4 CE credits), and
- Attend the NYS Partnership 4-hour classroom training (4 CE credits).
Registration
There are two-steps to completing the registration process. A third step (before you arrive for the classroom training) involves taking the E-Learning course on line.
Pre-registration:
- Go to the training schedule and select the training you wish to attend.
- You can call the Partnership Office at (518) 474-0662 to pre-register.
When you call, you will need to provide your:
- NYS Insurance license number
- Name (as it appears on your license)
- Daytime telephone number
- E-mail address
- Last 4 digits of your Social Security number (phone only)
Please Note: Due to possible unanticipated events, sessions may be cancelled. If this occurs, participants will be offered an alternate date.
Step II - Registration
- Go to the web site; download, print,and complete the Classroom Training Registration Form. This file is in Portable Document Format (PDF). Adobe Reader, which is available free of charge.
- Send completed registration form along with the $120.00 non-refundable fee as soon as possible to:

Registration form and payment must be received no less than two weeks prior to your pre-registered training date. Please make check or money order payable to "NYS Partnership Program/HRI." The $120.00 check or money order is non-refundable.
Step III - Online E-Learning
A test will be given on the morning of your training based on the online training. The E-Learning consists of three modules. At the end of each module, there are questions related to the corresponding module. There is no tracking on the E-learning site; training is done on the merit system. It is recommended that you refresh your memory before you arrive for the training.

When the Partnership office receives a completed registration form, along with the registration fee, an e-mail will be sent confirming your registration.
Cancellation Policy
The $120.00 registration fee is non-refundable. If you are not able to attend the training you registered for, you are allowed to reschedule once. The class must be taken within 12 months of the original scheduled date. If you need to reschedule more than once, you will be required to pay the registration fee of $120.00 again.

Recertification
All agents may be required to attend a 4-hour refresher course at the discretion of the Partnership Director, but no sooner than 1 year after the last training and certification class. Note: You must complete the E-learning online course before you attend the classroom training.
